Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace on 30 November, 1874. He became Prime Minister of Great Britain on May 10, 1940. After the General Election of 1945, he became the Leader of the Opposition. In 1946 King George VI made him a member of the Order of Merit. Sir Winston Churchill died in 1965 and was buried at Bladon, near Blenheim Palace.
