Bob Hope was the stage name of Leslie H Townes who was born in Eltham, London on the 29th of May 1903. His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, USA in 1907. In 1908 he became an American citizen. The song "Thanks for the Memory", became Bob Hope's trademark. He starred in a large number of films including the "Road to" movies. Also, he spent a lot of time entertaining American troops during the various conflicts that they were involved in. He died, aged 100, on July 27, 2003 at his home in Toluca Lake, which is north of Hollywood.
